How to convert and resize images in a consistent batch
Choose the format, resize consistently and check your batch results.
A repeatable image workflow starts with the destination: a website, an email attachment, an icon or a print file. Decide the accepted format and pixel dimensions before exporting a large batch.
1. Keep a master copy
Use your highest-quality originals as the starting point. Save the exported results in a separate folder with a name that identifies their purpose, such as website-product-images.
2. Choose a format the destination accepts
Consider JPEG for photographs without transparency, PNG for graphics or transparent output, and WebP for compatible web workflows. A conversion changes the file format; it cannot reconstruct detail missing from the source.
3. Resize before fine-tuning compression
Set the required width and height, and use the aspect ratio lock when you want to keep the original proportions. Use cropping only when the composition needs to fit a different shape. Compare details at 100% zoom before running the batch.
4. Review representative images
In Linvara Image Toolkit, check a few different inputs: a photograph, a graphic with small text and an image with transparency. Confirm the output dimensions, file size and watermark placement. Once the settings work for these examples, process the remaining images.
5. Check the exported results
Open several saved files in the application or website where they will be used. Only the first frame or page is processed, so keep animated, layered and multipage originals for workflows that need their full structure.
